The International Relations Organization (IRO) is a 501(c)3 student contracted independent organization (CIO) at the University of Virginia. IRO is dedicated to spreading awareness of international affairs at the University and around Charlottesville. With the support of over 100 members, IRO hosts weekly programs, organizes three annual Model United Nations conferences, publishes a journal of undergraduate research each semester, produces a podcast on foreign affairs, and sends University students to compete in collegiate Model United Nations conferences across the country. IRO is more than just a Model UN club, collaborating frequently with other organizations, academic departments, and schools to foster interest in issues of international importance and to ensure that the University remains an active center in the study of global affairs.
